Today the social taboo on female sexuality is as present as it has ever been. The continuous objectification of women, throughout all visual media, exemplifies the immense condescending demeanour women face when engaging, unleashing or finding comfort with oneself in a sexual act. The construction of these heteronormative norms, in regards to sex, self-gratification and masturbation, maintains a notion that does not allow a woman’s sexuality to blossom as proudly and vigorously as it should.
It is therefore that questions such as ‘What is female sexuality, what embodies the true and authentic display of female sexuality, how is the female sexuality constructed and what envisions the deconstruction thereof?’ arise.

With the creation of the short movie WET, I wanted to exemplify and envision a woman's sexuality through conceptual splashes of audacious, unusual, and sensual shots.
With a touch of sarcasm on the absurdity of the male gaze, I, together with my group,
was aiming to represent the counter perspective of today’s silencing and objectifying representation of female sexuality and self-gratification.

CHARLOTTE KNOWLES FALL WINTER 2019
Charlotte Knowles’s Fall Winter 2019 collection titled Truss, showcases female empowerment ‘that surpasses women wearing suits’ (Knowles, 2019). Slim fitting, posture enhancing and undeniable female flattering garments covered the runway, as the vulnerable becomes the protector, and underwear becomes armour, aiming to explore new codes of femininity. Knowles conveys the weight of heritage and spirit of counter-culture, ultimately striving to create the wardrobe for a new world order of what future femininity could be.
