TOUCHING
The photographs in Almost Touching investigate the physiognomy of the hands by an assemblage of close up archived images. It shows how we reveal ourselves to strangers, lovers, and friends. Though the work strives for intimacy, it offers only clues and intimations: disembodied limbs, unmet gazes, and mute hands trying to speak. Like people, the photographs begin to reveal themselves only when we identify their illusions. A kind of intimacy emerges from the interplay of what is shown and what is concealed.
